Thomas BECKHAM and Mary CURRY) 1830's Appalachian uplander dogtrot log cabin & barn to the Mile Branch Settlement<www.freefair.com> in Franklinton,LA. Isaac ROBERTS-uncle of Lucy BICKHAM KING-owned & sold to TIK "the Grandpa King Place"-where the log cabin & barn were originally located. There is an ISAAC KING as witness to a land transaction at Fort LOUDEN, TN. I have said all this to see if you might have some direction to this very difficult search to locate the Scotch-Irish parents/ancestors of TIK. Nice site. I'm looking for a John (middle name probably Monroe) Henderson, who married Nancy Agnes Wakefield in Smith County sometime between 1818, when Nancy was widowed (Her first husband was Asa Venters), and 1820. I have census info for Smith County from 1820, 30 and 40 that shows a John Henderson with a wife in the right age group to be Nancy, and the 1840 Census shows him with the right number of children -- right ages and gender. But I have no information about John's origins.

I'm working on an article on John Farrar (1750-1830 of NC and TN) who was connected to the Williams and Hendersons of The Transylvania Company through marriage, land transactions, and military service. John Farrar fought with the Hendersons and Williams in the Regulator conflict of 1771 and went into Boonesborough in 1775 with the Richard Henderson party. Is this an area of your research? John Farrar was married to the daughter of Nathaniel Williams. His niece, Frances Farrar, raised by her uncle Judge John Williams of the Transylvania Company, married Judge Leonard Henderson, son of Richard Henderson.

My mother is descended from John Henderson, born 1650 in Gent, Fifeshire, Scotland, and his son, William Henderson and his wife Margaret Bruce; and their second son, James Henderson and Martha Hamilton, and their fourth child, William Henderson and his wife believed to be Martha (Wilson ?) The fourth child of William Henderson and Martha (Wilson?) was Enos Henderson, b Feb 18,1796 and married Sept 12,1816 to Susannah Barnett,his wife. Susannah Barnett and Enos Henderson had 15 children. My mother is descended through their eighth child, Hugh Mack Henderson and his third marriage to Margaret Jane Patton. Hugh Mack and Margaret Jane Patton Henderson's second child was Cicero S Henderson. Cicero Henderson married August 31, 1894 Belle King. My mother is directly descended through Cicero and Belle's eighth child, Avalee Henderson Tole. I am looking for information on the two King sisters that married Henderson brothers.The KING sisters were Lou KING born April 3, 1873 and Belle KING, born Dec 16, 1876. Lou and Belle married the HENDERSON brothers. Lou married Vinson Henderson (the 4th child of Hugh Mack and Margaret Jane Patton Henderson) born August 9, 1873. Belle King married Cicero HENDERSON ( the second child of Hugh Mack and Margaret Jane Patton Henderson) born Sept 7, 1872. ** Then the 8th and 9th children of Cicero Henderson and the 4th child of Vinson Henderson all married brothers from the James Samuel Tole family. It was a good thing, in their small community in White County, Arkansas, when a new road was cut into the town. Otherwise, all of them would have had their eyes way too close or too far apart. That branch of the HENDERSON gene pool needed the new additions. I hope to send more information as soon as I get if proofed and formatted. It is fun to read the guestbook comments.
