District 6th William Henderson District 4th James and William Henderson George Henderson John Henderson District 5 William Henderson Sr. District 7 Samuel Henderson Samuel Henderson and Hugh Blair William Henderson and M.C. RogersOn 19th of September 1928, in a newspaper, the Montgomery Vindicator, there is a written record about a Henderson Reunion in Sevier County TN. Therein, it is written that the "history of the Henderson family by W.R. Henderson of Knox County TN stated that early ancestors originated in Scotland and led up to the descendants of Abraham Henderson, who is the direct ancestor of the Henderson of this section." It is not understood by this, if Abraham was the father of those who came to America from Scotland or if Abraham was the first to come to America in this line of Hendersons.
Later evidence located in 1999 seems to indicate that Abraham Henderson of this line lived in the Lee County VA area and was either killed by Indians there or he settled on the Little Pigeon River in what became Sevier County and was killed by Indians in Tennessee. There is a record of an Abraham Henderson in Montgomery County VA early and that part of Montgomery County VA could have been divided into the county of Lee County VA. The Abraham Henderson in Montgomery County VA has not been traced to our knowledge. We have never found a record of there being an Abraham Henderson in the area of East Tennessee early in the history. Nor has the name Abraham ever been used in this line of Hendersons. All evidence indicates the first person of this line of Hendersons to arrive in Sevier County was a William Henderson Sr. from Virginia. He was said to have been one of the earliest pioneers in Tennessee.
